7:00 PM CT, Late Woodland Ceramics on the Northeastern Plains: Filling the Gap Between the Red and Missouri Rivers

Blackduck ceramics has served as a catch-all for Late Woodland sherds in the Northeastern Plains that yield decorative similarities. This presentation will use site data to establish core traits for Blackduck and redefine the western boundary of this ceramic type. An alternative ceramic sequence for navigating the relationship between the beginnings of village culture in North Dakota and the terminus of the Late Woodland in Minnesota will be presented using data previously classified as Blackduck.
