2025 Lake Superior Basin Workshop

The 2025 Lake Superior Basin Workshop will be held on March 14 (Friday) and March 15 (Saturday).  The times for Friday are noon to 5 pm and on Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm.  The workshop is free and open to the public. Please see attached information for further details and to RSVP your presence. 

Online lecture: The Archaeology of the Saloon Row in Moorhead, MN

In 1889, North Dakota was admitted as a dry state forcing liquor businesses from Fargo, ND, and into neighboring Moorhead, MN. In 1915, local prohibition in Clay County shuttered the saloon business and gave rise to numerous illegal bars known as “blind pigs”. Learn about the results of 2017-2019 investigation of Saloon Row by a team from Minnesota State University of Moorhead.

Pine City Knap-in at the Snake River Fur Post

The 2025 Pine City Knap-in will be held on June 20 (Friday) and June 21 (Saturday. Learn how to make stone tools through the processes of flintknapping. The Knap-In is free with site admission. Please check the events calendar at the Minnesota Historical Society for updated event information.
